Knitting and spinning

I started to knit this shawl few weeks ago and now finally I have made some progress with it. I dyed the burgundy colored yarn myself. This is alpacca yarn, so very soft. I love this pattern.

Andrea´s Shawl by Kirsten Kapur.

This roving was dyed last week, when I got all my new lovely dye colors ;) Soon I will also get new wool, BFL, Merino and some silk. That will be fun!!

Have a nice weekend ;)

Hand dyed yarn

I have been hand dyeing yarn lately. I'm very happy with those.

This is Icelandic wool and it is great for lace pattern.

This one is Sock yarn and is now for sale in my new Etsy shop :)

And the turquoise and brown yarn is also Icelandic wool and is lace weight. I love that one :)

Finished shawl

Now I have finished knitting my own hand dyed and hand spun shawl. It looks good :)

Now I'm spinning this brown and golden Shetland wool. It is taking ages because my work and life is taking a lot of my spinning time.

I also started to knit Andrea's shawl but I don't like the yarn I'm using and I have to choose another one. I just ordered new dye colors and maby I'll just wait until I they arrive here and dye some wool to use in that shawl.

I have been making experience in dyeing sock yarn and wool yarn and I like it. Photos later ;)

Knitting and dyeing

I have been dyeing today. I dyed some Einband which
is single spun icelandic wool from Istex. I just LOVE how it turned out. What a lovely colors.

This is a single spun Sethland wool.

This look nice. I have already started to knit a shawl from it.

Waiting for the green color to show up. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Old rose

This is my project right now. These colors remind me of rose. I'm going to knit something nice of it :) I think it will be beautiful.

Here is my 9 year old daughter in the company of Grýla and Leppalúði witch are the parents of the icelandic julelads. This photo is taken in Akureyri a month ago. That couple are not nice one, they like to eat children.

Done :)

Finally I finished this one! It took ages to spin it. My work also did get in the way ;) I'm happy with it, it turned out better than I expected. It will probably end as nice socks. Now I'm doing some fractal spinning witch is very exiting.
It is getting colder here, but the weather is beautiful. The temperature outside now is about 6°C.

Spinning Sethland wool

I dyed some of my new Sethland wool yesterday and I'm not very happy about the colors I got. I guess I have to get some feeling about how to use the colors. This one that I started spinning was supposed to be more olive green. I don't have olive green, I just blended together the colors I had.

This one came out better than I tought it would do. I think this will become a lovely shawl ;)

Im also happy with this one. This will probably become a very nice shawl too ;)

I need more wool!

I just finished this very soft merino wool skein. Now I just have to knit something of it. I think it will be best in baby clothing.

Now I don't have any wool to spin, but I'm waiting for 2 kg of Sethland wool in the mail. So I sit by the window and wait for the postman every day now hehe :) I also got more colors now to dye my wool. This is so much fun! Maby I should use my out of wool time to clean the house ;)

Spinning right now

I love to spin! It is so relaxing and nice to sit down and spin a little bit. I like to listen to some music while I'm spinning and sometimes I will sing out loud. My kids don't like it though hehe :) I haven't had much time to spin lately, my work is getting in the way ;)

This is merino wool. Sometimes it brakes and that is a bit frustrating. But I'm slowly improving. Few days ago I ordered a Sethland wool. I can't wait until it gets here!

Improving

Im improving a bit. Just finished to spin this lovely merino wool in to a yarn. My thread is becoming thinner and more even.

This yarn is 2 ply and I have given it to my mother to knit something beautiful from it. This is so much fun, but takes a lot of time and patience.

This is my next project. The weather is very nice and I have been sitting on my balcany all day spinning :)

Fyrsta og önnur hespan. My first and second skein.

Þetta er fyrsta hespan mín þar sem ég litaði ullina, spann hana og splæsti svo saman. Er afskaplega stolt af þessu verki mínu þó svo þetta sé nú ekki fallegasta hespan.

This is my first skein, dyed, spinned and navajoplyed by myself ;) I will not make anything from it, it is not much and just fun to keep because it is my first skein.

Önnur hespan gekk mun betur, maður er ótrúlega fljótur að ná tökum á því að spinna. Garnið er þrefalt og ég er byrjuð að prjóna úr því og það er ótrúlega mjúkt.

This is my secund skein and it is much better than the first one. I have already started to knit from it and it is so soft and lovely.

Svo er hérna næsta verkefni tilbúið til þess að spinna. Þarna blandaði ég saman bleikum og brúnum og er spennt að vita hvernig það kemur út þegar ég verð búin.

This is my next project. I used pink and brown to dye it and now I cant wait to see how it will turn out ;)

It started with....

One of my favorite blog that I read is Min inspiration and when I first saw that Mia, the blogs owner, started to spin I knew I would have to try this out :) Well...everyone here home think I'm a little bit weird hehe and maby I am ;)

So I bought some merino wool and put it in a stove with a little bit of dye. I used two kinds of color, pink, and brown. That is so much fun and now I want some more colors.

My 84 year old father made me some kind of spindle and I started to spin for the first time ;) But I wanted to do some more and bought myself a spinning wheel as I said before.
This is my second trial to spin on my spinning wheel and I feel that I am getting the hand of it ;) I had dyed some merino wool in blue color and Im going to do some navajo plying with it.

Spinning :)

Yesterday I bought myself a leuet spinning wheel s 17 and started to spin. My father made a spindle for me few weeks ago and I started to practice but I wanted to do more and finally I got my own spinning wheel. I also dyed a merino wool to spin and this is so much fun :) It is not going veri smooth but I will get there ;) Photos soon ;)

A japanese flower pattern

I have fallen in love for this pattern like many of you ;) This is my first one and I'm not very happy with it. The second row is not correct and I'm also thinking of what type of yarn I should use. This one is made of the Lanett yarn from Sandnes. I like it a lot but maby it is to ...light.... dont know the english word for it ;)

A blanket with a rippled pattern

I always need to have many things to make or I will get bored. So I'm also making this little baby blanket. I still have no one to give that blanket to ...hopefully I will be a grandmother someday hehe :) Not yet tough I hope!

Swim suit bag to be :)

This is an African Flower pattern and I love to crochet that pattern! I started to make them last summer and it is supposed to end as a swimming bag for my girl. But unfortunatly I noticed when I had crocheted about 20 of them that I was using a wrong size of a crocheting needle so they are not all the same size :/
So I just put them away for a while and started another project ;) I will finish this one later.

Sweater with a horse pattern.

I knitted this sweater for my eight year old daughter. She loves horses and she loves this sweater and wear it a lot. This pattern is for free and is avalble HERE. Unfortunatly the pattern is in icelandic hehe :) I used icelandic Lopi Light yarn.
